• Seafood export value in Jan-May in Binh Thuan province hit US29.2 million, up 12.6% year-on-year, according to Binh Thuan Newspaper.

In the first five months of 2012, the province’s total export turnover reached US$80.3 million, up 14.6% year-on-year. The figure includes US$ 29.2 million from seafood, up 12.6% year on year, US$10.5 million from agricultural products, down 22.5% and US$40.5 million from other products, up 32.9%.

The decline in agricultural export was attributed to lower export value of cashew and rubber, meanwhile less imports made by Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Netherlands markets.

Besides, the production and price of some export items are not stable. Enterprises were still facing capital and raw material shortage.

Companies in Binh Thuan are participating in some international expositions to find more customers and conducting market survey to Japan to push their seafood export.
