    Vietnam’s seafood export is forecast to increase by 4.9% from 2011 to $6.4 billion in 2012,

    The revision was made on expectation that the world’s seafood supply shortage due to natural disasters in Japan, Thai Land and widespread diseases on shrimp farms in, China and Indonesia and the country’s positive seafood export in the first 2 months of this year.

    Vietnam was estimated to reap $775 million from seafood export Jan-Feb period, up 14.5% on year, including $422 million of February (up 16.4% on year), according to the statistics from General Department of Customs.

    The European Union, United State of America and Japan are Vietnam’s 3 main sea food importers in the period.
