The grant was part of VASEP’s project to provide 20 transceivers for 20 fishing vessels of Binh Thuan.
Binh Hung 3 is the first fishing association established in Binh Thuan province. With 5 teams and 121 members, it is the second largest association of its kind in Viet Nam, just after An Hai Fishing Association in Ly Son district, Quang Ngai province.
The association aims to protect fishers’ rights and benefits in any dispute, minimize risks at sea, protect fishers’ life and properties, and take part in protecting the national sovereignty at sea.
Currently, Binh Thuan has 9,000 fishing vessels, including 1,600 vessels with capacity of more than 90HP each operating in Hoang Sa and Truong Sa (Paracels and SpratlyIslands). Total catch exceeds 165,000MT annually.
